Aidan Hart: Creation is a Poem of Love

Aidan Hart, whom I first met on Mount Athos in the early 1990s, is a consummate sacred artist. His work, spanning many different media, all breathes of the same spirit and vision. It is the Spirit of God, it is a vision of creation that he has articulated both in his art and in his writings. A periodic contributor to the Orthodox Arts Journal, he is also author of three important publications: a manual of icon painting, a book on his theological vision, and most recently a stunning, image-rich volume that depicts and describes the Church’s Festal Icons.

Not long ago Aidan had the distinction of a commission (the first of several, as it now happens) from King Charles III—the anointing screen for the King’s coronation in May 2023. Visit Aidan Hart’s website for more information and images.
