Ralph Sidway: Evoking stillness

“Wise Hands”

Ralph Sidway is an artist whose media is photography. He has worked as a commercial and performing arts photographer but is at heart an artist. His first published book of photography, from 2014, is Pursuing the Light, 40 years of photography, a book of fine-art black and white images. He has recently published The North American Thebaid, an image-rich book that also features some very thoughtful essays, whose subject is Orthodox Christian monasteries on the North American Continent.
